Know What a Plant Cell Is

Edited by Anonomous

A plant cell is found in - guess what - plants! They are much more advanced that normal animal cells, which only contain a Cell Membrane, Cytoplasm, and also a Nucleus. However, plant cells include;

A Cell Wall A plant cell only contains one Cell Wall. This provides lots of structure to the cell, making it stronger and tougher.

A Nucleus A Nucleus contains all of the cells DNA, and controls the cell as well, but is very important that you remember that a Nucleus is NOT a brain, because it only controls what the cell does. Humans only have one brain, and that it the one in your skull, and plants don't have brains, so the Nucleus is not a brain.

Cytoplasm The Cytoplasm is a jelly-like substance where all of the reactions in the cell take place.

Chloraplast The Chloraplast contains something called Chloraphyll, which is responsible for allowing photosynthesis, a process where food is made for the plant, in the form of Glucose, a carbohydrate for the plant.

Mitochondria Mitochondria is where Aerobic Respiration takes place.

Cell Membrane This is what controls what goes in and out of the cell, and is controlled by the Nucleus (REMEMBER: The Nucleus is NOT a brain!)

Vacuole This is like a big air bag filled with a sugary cell sap called Glucose, and this also - along with the cell wall - helps make the cell stronger AND give it more structure!

REMEMBER: The Nucleus is NOT a brain!
